Why 1.5" gallery wrap is the standard
Galleries use 1.5-inch-deep stretcher bars because the depth gives the canvas presence on a wall without overwhelming a room. What the canvas is made of
The face of every AmourPrint canvas is a premium poly-cotton blend. We use poly-cotton (rather than 100% cotton or 100% polyester) for three reasons: cotton gives the texture and feel of traditional artist canvas, polyester adds dimensional stability so the canvas won't sag in humid climates, and the blend together holds ink with sharper color saturation than either fibre alone. The frame underneath is kiln-dried solid wood (not MDF or plastic) so the stretched canvas stays taut for years.
How to hang a 1.5" canvas (no frame needed)
The 1.5" gallery wrap is designed to hang directly on the wall — no frame required. We pre-install a sawtooth hanger or D-rings on the back depending on canvas size. Use a single drywall anchor for canvases under 30", or two anchors set to canvas width for larger pieces. If you prefer a framed look, the canvas accepts standard floater frames (most major framers stock them in black, white, walnut, and oak).
