Standard care — do nothing

For 95% of customers, no care is needed. The canvas is gallery-wrapped, the inks are archival, the frame is stable. Hang it, enjoy it.

Cleaning

Routine dust

Dust the canvas every 3-6 months with a clean, dry microfiber cloth or feather duster. Wipe gently from top to bottom in a single direction. Never use water, sprays, or chemical cleaners on the canvas surface.

Smudges or accidental marks

Use a slightly damp white cotton cloth (not paper towel — leaves lint). Dab the affected area gently. Do NOT rub aggressively — you can lift ink with too much pressure.

Pet hair on textured canvas

Lint roller (the cheap blue-paper kind) lifts pet hair without damaging the canvas surface.

Sunlight exposure

Avoid placing canvas in direct sunlight for 8+ hours/day. Direct UV exposure WILL eventually fade even archival inks — typically after 8-12 years in heavy sun. Normal indoor lighting causes no measurable fading for 50+ years.

If you can't avoid sun exposure

• Move the canvas seasonally (summer = hallway, winter = sunny wall)
• Apply UV-blocking film to the window behind the canvas (~$30, hardware store)
• Choose a UV-protective spray for the canvas surface (Krylon UV-Resistant Clear, ~$15) — do once at install, refresh every 5 years

Humidity

Canvas tolerates 30-70% humidity without issue. Avoid hanging in:

• Bathrooms with poor ventilation (constant steam)
• Near a humidifier running daily
• Basements with chronic damp

If you live in a humid climate (Florida, Louisiana, coastal Pacific Northwest), keep canvas in air-conditioned rooms.

Accidental water damage

If the canvas gets splashed:

1. Blot immediately with dry white cotton
2. Stand the canvas upright in a well-ventilated room
3. Let dry for 24 hours — do NOT use hair dryers or heaters
4. If you see water spots after drying, contact us — we can sometimes redo the affected area

Frame care

The gallery-wrap frame is solid wood. Wipe with dry microfiber cloth every 3-6 months. Avoid water and wood polish on the frame edges.

Long-term storage

If you need to store the canvas for 6+ months:

1. Wrap the canvas in acid-free tissue paper
2. Place in a sturdy cardboard box larger than the canvas
3. Store flat, NOT vertical (vertical storage stresses the stretcher bars over time)
4. Keep in a climate-controlled space (50-70°F, 30-60% humidity)

Moving / shipping the canvas

When moving homes, wrap the canvas with:

1. Acid-free tissue first (touches the canvas)
2. Bubble wrap second (cushioning)
3. Heavy cardboard box, with corner foam protectors
4. Label "FRAGILE — ARTWORK"

Hire a moving company that specializes in art if you have 3+ canvases.

FAQ

Will my AmourPrint canvas fade?

Not in normal indoor lighting. Archival inks rated 100+ years against fading. Direct sunlight 8+ hours/day will eventually fade any printed material — follow the sun-exposure tips above to protect.

Can I take the canvas off the frame?

Not recommended — the gallery-wrap stretching tension is calibrated. Removing and re-stretching usually creases the canvas. If you must store off-frame, contact us first.

How do I clean fingerprints?

Slightly damp white cotton, dab gently, let dry. Don't use household cleaners.

What if my canvas is damaged?

Email support@amourprint.com with photos of the damage. For damage within 30 days of receipt, we usually replace at no cost. For older damage, we can sometimes reprint at a 25% discount.
