What is soundwave art?

Soundwave art — also called audio waveform art, sound wave prints, or voice art — takes the visual shape of a recorded sound and turns it into wall art. Every sound has a unique waveform: the peaks and troughs you see in a music editor. No two are identical, which is what makes it a genuinely one-of-one keepsake rather than a personalised template.

Most people send us one of four things:

• A wedding song — usually the first dance, printed with names and the wedding date underneath.
• A voice recording — a child saying "I love you," a grandparent's laugh, a wedding vow read aloud.
• A saved voicemail — by some distance the most emotional pieces we make, often after the loss of a parent or grandparent.
• A heartbeat — an ultrasound recording, printed for a first Father's Day or a nursery.

Soundwave art vs. song lyric art — which should you choose?

We make both, and the honest answer is that they suit different rooms and different people.

Choose soundwave art if the room is modern or minimalist, if the recipient likes clean graphic design, or if the sound itself is the point — a voice, a heartbeat, a laugh that has no lyrics to print. A waveform reads as abstract art from across a room; you only learn what it is when someone tells you.

Choose song lyric art if the words matter as much as the melody, or if you want the gift to be legible at a glance. Lyric canvases carry more emotional weight for people who associate the song with specific lines.

How to choose a size

Waveforms are wide and short by nature, so they suit horizontal spaces — above a bed, above a sofa, along a hallway. Our most-ordered sizes:

• 10x20" — from $59. Good for a gallery wall, a shelf lean, or an office. The most popular first purchase.
• 12x24" / 16x32" — $79–$150. The right scale above a dresser, a crib, or a desk.
• 20x40" — $129–$160. Our recommendation above a queen bed or a standard three-seat sofa.
• 24x48" and 30x60" — $139–$210. Statement scale. Choose this if the wall is the focal point of the room.

Rule of thumb: the art should be roughly two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. Above a 60" sofa, a 40"-wide canvas looks right; a 20" one looks lost.

Frequently asked questions

What audio file formats can I send?

MP3, M4A, WAV, and voice memos exported from an iPhone or Android all work. If your recording is a video, send it anyway — we'll extract the audio. If you only know the song title and artist, that's enough; we don't need a file.

Can you make a soundwave from a voicemail?

Yes, and it's one of our most-requested pieces. On an iPhone, open the voicemail, tap the share icon, and email it to yourself. On Android, most carriers let you download voicemails from the app. Send whatever you get — even a phone recording of a phone playing the message works, because the waveform shape survives.

How long a recording can you use?

Anywhere from three seconds to about a minute prints well. Longer than that and the waveform compresses into a solid block. If you send a full song, tell us which part matters — the chorus, the opening line — and we'll use that section.

Do I see it before you print it?

Always. We email a digital proof and we do not print until you approve it. Revisions are free and unlimited. Most proofs go out within a day of ordering.

Is the frame really included?

The hanging hardware and internal wooden frame are included free on all canvas sizes — the canvas arrives stretched and ready to hang out of the box. An optional black floater frame upgrade is available at checkout on most sizes.

How fast can I get it?

Standard production and shipping is 5–7 business days within the US. If you're ordering for a specific date, order 10–14 days ahead to leave a buffer. Expedited shipping is available at checkout.

Can I use a copyrighted song?

Yes. A waveform is a visual representation of audio, not a reproduction of the recording, and we print short excerpts for personal use. We can't print full lyrics of a copyrighted song at length, but the waveform, title, artist and date are all fine.

What if I don't like it?

Because you approve a proof before we print, surprises are rare. If the physical canvas arrives damaged or doesn't match your approved proof, we reprint or refund within 30 days.
