About 35% of our orders ship to an address different from the billing address — gift-direct is one of the most common purchase patterns at AmourPrint. The process is built into standard checkout and doesn't require any special request or customer-service intervention.

The step-by-step gift-direct process

Step 1: Design your canvas as normal. Customize the lyrics, song, names, dates, and any other personalization. None of this changes for gift orders.

Step 2: Add to cart and proceed to checkout.

Step 3: At the address step, fill in YOUR information as billing. Your name, your email, your phone, your billing zip — these are tied to your payment method.

Step 4: Uncheck "Same as billing address" when prompted. A separate shipping address field appears. Enter the recipient's name and address here. This is where the canvas physically goes.

Step 5: Optionally add a gift note. In the order notes field (visible at checkout), type the message you'd like printed on a small card and included in the package. Keep it under 80 characters for best presentation.

Step 6: Confirm and pay. Order confirmation emails go to your email (the billing email). Shipping notifications can optionally also be sent to the recipient — let us know in the notes if you want a delivery alert to go to the gift recipient, otherwise tracking goes only to you.

What does (and doesn't) ship with a gift-direct order

NOT included:

An invoice or receipt
Price information of any kind
Any AmourPrint marketing material with discount codes (so the recipient doesn't see what you paid)

This is the standard handling — you don't need to request "discreet packaging." Every gift-direct shipment is automatically priced out of the package.

Multiple gifts, multiple recipients

If you're sending canvases to multiple different recipient addresses (for example, gifts to three different family members), place each as a separate order with a different shipping address. We can't split a single order into multiple destinations — each unique shipping address requires its own order. The 24-hour designer preview still applies to each order separately.

Timing your gift-direct shipment

Standard production is 5-7 business days. Standard shipping within the US is 3-5 business days. So a typical gift-direct order arrives 8-12 business days after you place it.

Rush production (2-3 days) plus expedited shipping (1-2 days) can compress that to 4-5 business days total, for a $89 rush fee plus the expedited shipping upcharge.

Practical guidance:

Birthday gift: order 3 weeks before. Standard production + shipping comfortably hits the date.
Anniversary gift: order 3 weeks before. Same logic.
Christmas / Valentine's / Mother's Day: order 4 weeks before. Peak-season production windows can stretch by 1-2 days.
Last-minute gift (under 7 days): use rush production + expedited shipping. Message us first to confirm the window.

Address validation + correction

If you enter a shipping address that fails USPS validation (typo in zip, ambiguous apartment number), we'll email you within 24 hours to confirm before printing. This is the second-most-common gift-direct issue we see — the first being recipients having moved recently and the giver not knowing the new address. Double-check before checkout.
