Can I See Proofs Before Paying for a Custom Canvas? The AmourPrint Order Process Explained [2026]

Designer reviewing a canvas proof on a tablet

The short answer: yes — you always see a digital proof before we print. But the order goes pay-first, design-within-24-hours, approve-the-proof, then print. We don't print until you say yes. If the design isn't right after revisions, we refund.

Why the order goes pay-first

This question comes up a lot, so we'll explain. We've shipped 100,000+ canvases across both AmourPrint stores, and the workflow that works best is:

  1. You place the order with payment
  2. Our designer creates a proof within 24 hours
  3. You review the proof and either approve or request revisions
  4. Free unlimited revisions until you say it's perfect
  5. We print only after you approve
  6. If the design can't be made right, we refund — never printed, no commitment

The reason for pay-first: designers are paid for their time. Free-design-first models (where you only pay if you like the proof) end up burning designer time on customers who were never going to buy, which drives prices up for everyone. The pay-first-with-refund-guarantee approach lets us hire better designers, give them adequate time per proof, and pass the savings back as included free revisions.

How the proof process works

Step 1: Order + intake

At checkout, you provide:

  • The lyrics, poem, or text
  • Any photo files
  • Names, dates, dedications
  • Layout preferences (text-only, photo + text, sound wave style)
  • Size + finish

Step 2: Designer assignment

Your order is assigned to one of our designers within 4-12 hours. Designers specialize — wedding canvases, memorial canvases, family canvases, and pet canvases each go to designers who've worked the format thousands of times.

Step 3: First proof (within 24 hours)

You receive an email with a high-resolution digital proof of the canvas exactly as we'd print it. The proof shows:

  • The full layout
  • The exact typography
  • The exact crop/size of any photos
  • The final color treatment

Step 4: Approve or revise

You reply with either "approve" or specific revision notes. Common revision requests we see:

  • "Can you make the names bigger?"
  • "Can the date be in a different style?"
  • "Can the photo be cropped tighter on the faces?"
  • "Can you shift the lyrics to the right of the photo instead of below?"

Step 5: Final approval + print

Once you approve, we print within 1-2 business days and ship.

What happens if I'm not happy with the proofs?

Three scenarios:

  1. You want changes: Free unlimited revisions. We've had customers go 5+ rounds on memorial canvases until every detail is exactly right.
  2. The photo doesn't print well at your chosen size: We tell you, suggest a smaller size, and you decide.
  3. You change your mind entirely: Before we print, you can cancel for a full refund. After we print, we offer a redesign at cost if practical, or partial refund if not.

What "free unlimited revisions" actually means

Exactly what it sounds like. We've had customers go 7 rounds on a wedding canvas. We've had memorial canvases through 4 designers. There's no revision counter, no per-revision charge, and no time limit (we hold proofs for up to 4 weeks).

The catch — well, not a catch, more like a tip — is that more revisions slow your delivery. If you ordered standard shipping and you go 5 revision rounds, each round adds 12-24 hours to your timeline. Plan accordingly.

Can I see SAMPLE work without ordering?

Yes — every product page on AmourPrint has the gallery of previous customer canvases (anonymized where needed). The product page for our main song lyric canvas shows 12+ real customer proofs. Our 4,503+ verified reviews include hundreds of customer-uploaded photos of the canvases on their walls.

The "what if it looks bad in my house" question

If the proof looks great but you receive the canvas and want a different size or different finish, we offer:

  • A 30-day satisfaction guarantee on every canvas
  • A reprint at cost if the issue is sizing/finish-related
  • A full refund if the canvas is defective

Real customer story

J.L. ordered a 16x20 memorial canvas for her late father. She wasn't sure about the typography in the first proof. She emailed three rounds of revisions over four days. The designer adjusted spacing, font weight, and the placement of the dates each round. The final canvas matched what she'd been picturing without being able to articulate it. "I felt heard," she wrote. "I've never felt that with an online order."

What customers say

"I asked for 4 rounds of revisions on my wedding canvas. The designer was patient every single time. The canvas that finally got printed was exactly what I wanted. The free-revisions promise is real." — AmourPrint customer review
